Rosie Safari: Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011, 2011 MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet
Victoria's Secret Supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a leopard printed Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 stretch silk fitted dress. On the actual runway, it was shown below the knee and with flat shoes. Thank God Miss Rosie chose to hike the dress up a bit---and wear it with heels (and I LOVE those heels!). Oh, and not wear that hat! In case you didn't know, it's ALL ABOUT Animal Prints for Fall and next Spring--and leave it to a Victoria's Secret Model to work it! Sexy. Hot.
Romper Princess: Actress Elle Fanning in D&G Spring 2011, 2011 MTV Movie Awards
Thirteen year old (I know, SHUT UP!!!) actress (and sister of Dakota) Elle Fanning, wore D&G Spring 2011 to the 2011 MTV Movie Awards tonight. She's like one year younger than my niece, and if I spotted my niece in heels THAT high--well, Uncle Nick might have a problem...But that's neither here nor there. Let's discuss Miss Elle. She wore a printed romper from the lower line of Dolce and Gabbana. It was cute, young and dare I say, age-appropriate. But those heels??? Platform wedges on a thirteen year old? Maybe I am just too much of a fuddy-duddy.... Anyhow--what do you guys think?
Caprese and Campari: Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011
Last week, Milan Fashion Week continued and while you can read (and see) my BLOG posting for the Gucci and Prada Fall/Winter 2011 CollectionsHERE, I wanted to also show you the latest offerings from two other MAJOR Italian Fashion Houses: Dolce & Gabbana and Versace:
Dolce & Gabbana:
Butch Dolce & Gabbana: Model Arizona Muse opens Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011 Runway Show
For Fall/Winter 2011 Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana showed many, many looks--over 80 to be exact! There were no "Earth-shaking" style statements for these two--just same old same old fabulous Masculine vs. Feminine stylings that have become the Dolce & Gabbana signature. The show began with Model-of-the-Moment Arizona Muse (of course!), in a jacquard double-breasted jacket and cropped knee-hovering pants, white buttoned-up dress shirt, hat and even some faux sideburns!
She was VERY Madonna "Open Your Heart" video. While the "Uomo Parade" of superbly tailored suits and perfectly draped trousers continued, it also became apparent that there was a 1980's Ska Band/Come On Eileen feeling to it as well, in addition to the fact that this entire section looked as if it could have been styled by former Lindsay Lohan girlfriend DJ Samantha Ronson and model Agyness Deyn:
Italian High Fashion Ska: Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011
But of course, the Dolce & Gabbana girl cannot live on pant suits alone, and to satisfy this, Domenico and Stefano also sent out many sexy lace and corseted lingerie-inspired looks that will for sure be placed FRONT and CENTER at their boutiques worldwide come next Fall:

Versace Donna Women's Wear Fall/Winter 2011:
For Versace Fall/Winter 2011 Donatella Versace and her Design Team continued on their path of her brother's Design Roots, incorporating baroque motifs, color-blocks and imprints in addition to those ubiquitous Versace gold-plated buttons, which became part of the House's Legacy and roots.
Versace 1980's ad featuring Christy Turlington, Paulina Porizkova and Linda Evangelista
The Collection was molto sexy and filled with Vibrant in-your-face colors: Neon Teal, Royal Blue, Highlighter Yellow, as well as some whites and blacks thrown in for good measure. Themes ran from Red Carpet Diva to Military Power Goddess. Domenico and Stefano may give you Maschile...but Donatella's girl is ALL WOMAN!!!

Spring 2011: Cropped Tops, 1985 Is Back, and I LOVE ANNIE LENNOX!!!The Men's Spring 2011 Shows are happening in Milan and besides all the hot 22 year old male models with .0000008 % of body fat being shown on the runway stage, there's actually a lot of news coming from the Fashion Front. Let's start with CROPPED Tops. Yep, it's 1985 and you are Andrew Ridgeley or George Michael from Wham!Italo Zucchelli, Calvin Klein Men's Creative Director, showed a crop top or two in his latest Menswear offering as well as Frankie Morello, which is a line designed by Maurizio Modica and Pier Fracesco Giliotti.Yep, check out that crop top above. That's going to be a HIT in the Jersey Shore come next Summer! But staying on with Calvin Klein, Zucchelli was in a definite DEVO-meets-A Flock Of Seagulls-meets-Wham 80s mood with... shiny suits like this one above (love the aquamarine knit crewneck top underneath),and bright Popsicle colored sweater-and-swimsuit combination (can you see these at your next Cabo outing?) and those aforementioned cropped tops that only a Pay-for-Play male "Escort" would love (and his Sugar Daddy).

Dolce & Gabbana Men Spring 2011: For their twentieth anniversary show, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana of the "We Love MADOOOOONNNNNA--and Scarlett Johansson Ads fame"showed classic elegant and sexy clothes just right for thatSicilian Pay-For-Play boy (is this a running theme?) who grew up and married a not-so-pretty heir-to-the-throne of a no-longer-a-monarchy-led nation. For Spring 2011, they showed lots of gorgeous relaxed yet still tailored beige, wheat and ivory suitings (above) great mini-collared shirts (my favorites!) and skinny ties, and a final tour-de-force of stunning sharp black suits. Of course, when the Dolce & Gabbana boy is not in them fab suits, he's in this: When my Room Service Dinner shows up, this is what I'd like to think I look like as I get my Caprese Salad from the Relais Santa Croce in Florence Italy. Congratulazioni per un favoloso venti anni di rendere gli uomini aspetto! Don't miss Part 2 of the Runway Video below with the FIERCE Annie Lennox (yep, Lady Gaga who?) Alexander McQueen:Prints, prints and more prints. Face masks, printed of course and lots of very fitted Savile Row suits. Did I mention those were printed as well? McQueen is a design God. It's obvious that his women aren't the only DIVAS in the room with this collection. In reality, a very wealthy singer or entertainment type might buy a jacket and pair it with skinny solid pants or jeans and "call it a day". That's fine with me too. But I would love to see someone rock that mask and not get stopped at TSA. Just saying. Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter Men's 2010/11 Runway Video:
D & G Dolce & Gabbana:Think luxe snowboarderin the Italian Alps with a tad bit of MTV's The Jersey Shore campiness thrown in. Yep, welcome to D&GDolce and Gabbana for next year's Winter.
That tuxedo look is KILLING ME! It's Astronaut meets Snowboarder meets I-need-a-Baileys and Creme...like right now! This might not work in Mountain Highor Big Bear but if you were going Cortina in Italy--this is what you might find somebody wearing. D & G Fall/Winter Men's 2010/11 Runway Video:
Gucci:Designer Frida Giannini is going back to the "essence" of Gucci: Classic, elegant, jet-set. Trust-fund baby who has grown up, loves his Gucci loafers (sockless preferably), turtlenecks over fitted tailored jackets and likes to hang out on Daddy's yacht, since it will be his in a few years anyway.
Think Stefano Casiraghi, Princess Caroline's eldest son meets Steve McQueen. This is the look I'd like to "work" on my next trip to Positano!!! Here's a highlight video of Frida Giannini's Gucci Men's Fall/Winter 2010/11 Collection:
Ciao Milano!Donatella's Twin: A look from Versace Spring/Summer 2010
The Spring/Summer 2010 Collections just finished in Milan and now the world's press and fashionistas have moved on to Paris, the City of Lights. I love checking out all the latest collections. I especially love looking at the actual runway videos (when I find them!). While I'm doing this, I feel, well, why not share with my Blog "peeps"? I can't enjoy this all by myself naturally. Here are some highlights:
Versace:Pretty in Pink: One of My Favorite Gowns from Versace Spring/Summer 2010 Donatella Versace sent out a slew of GLAMAZONIAN versions of herself for Spring/Summer 2010. It was a feast for the eyes: Bright canary yellows, potent hues of pink, green and anything in between. Kaleidoscopic transparent prints. Stretch jerseys and fluid silks. Russian Arms Dealer's Mistress: Only Donatella would send this down the runway--Love it!
It seems that with this collection Donatella is embracing what a lot of people already think of Versace clothing: It's SO PERFECT for that Russian Arms Dealer's Mistress. And to that, I raise a shot...or two...of Vodka!

Dolce and Gabbana: Open Your Heart: Lingerie Cocktail Dress, Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, also seem to have gone back to their "roots". Sending down an almost "retro" Dolce and Gabbana Collection, inspired by black and white photos of Isabella Rosselini, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Madonna; to name just a few. It was as if a Peter Lindbergh Vogue photograph came to life. Every look had those famous under-corsets. They played with masculine and feminine, as they always do, as well as Seville, Argentina and all things "Latino".Gaucho Grill: A tailored suit from Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010
They sent out an androgynous tailored black suit one minute and a Sicilian "lady-of-the-evening" leaving her client's home at 6 AM the next. Lots of blacks, white laces and lipstick-red prints. For Spring/Summer 2010 the Dolce and Gabbana girl is going to Southern Italy--and she's going to steal your husband! Click BELOW for the Dolce and Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Video
Cowboys, Hot Camp Counselors, Italian Gigolos and Ripped Bleached Jeans...
It's Menswear Fashion Week!!!!
DSquared2:For Spring 2010, the Dsquared2 twins came up with a rompy "Camp" theme--not the kind of camping you used to do with your family however. This is "Going Camping" on another level! Lots of skin, lots of hot Fantasy Boy Scouts, and the sexiest Camp Counselors I've ever seen--My camp counselors at the Summer Camps I went to NEVER looked like this! Come to think of it, I never even went to a Summer Camp!If they did, I would have gone more often! Lots of shorts, boxers showing from under the shorts, torn-and-worn jeans, Wellies and Hiking Boots, and those ubiquitous Trucker Caps. When someone like Ed Hardy does Trucker caps, they look DOUCHEY, somehow, the Dsquared trucker caps still look HOT!
DSquared Spring/Summer 2010 Video (Highlights): D & G:
For their lower "Contemporary" line, D & G, the Dolce & Gabbana boys were in a Western mood for Spring/Summer 2010. Sexy, slim cowboys, Western shirts fitted to a 1/4" of their fat-free male model bodies, cowboy boots worn inside out. This is the sexy Italian version of "Brokeback Mountain". And again, it's all about those torn/ripped and bleached-splashed jeans. I feel like I am back in 1984---and I kinda like it!
D&G Menswear Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Video:
Dolce and Gabbana:For their luxe high-end namesake line, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, continued on what they know how to do: Dress an Italian Gigolo. For Spring 2010, the silhouette was lean and mean (not a surprise). Elongated blazers (a departure from the current trend of cropped ones) are de rigueur for Dolce & Gabbana. But what the designers did show cropped were the pants. Gentlemen, you will be rolling and pegging your pants come next Spring/Summer. No socks and gorgeous Italian loafers. Yeah, it's Band-Aid time for the back of your feet kids! The show starred Madonna's latest boy toy, Brazilian model Jesus Luz--who was the second "exit" in the show-- wearing black "hot shorts" and a very open black shirt. Bless his heart, he can't walk the runway to save his life (he's rather bowl-legged, see video below), but huney, he looked HOT!
Joan Collins Meets Robert Palmer Girls: It's all about the 80's and The Super ShoulderThe Super Shoulder at Nina Ricci Fall 2009/10
Milan Fashion Week has come and gone and now, the world's press--and editors and fashion buyers alike--have moved onto the City of Lights, Paris. Two trends are making a standout this season: The Eighties and a Fierce Shoulder. It seems ironic that in such a dire economic situation that the world is under, the 80's--a time of prosperity and spend spend spend--would be a theme that designers would cling to. Lord knows the reason, but they have.
Frida Giannini for Gucci:Slouched Skinny 80's at Gucci Fall 2009/10
Case in point: Frida Giannini at Gucci. Her entire collection celebrated Tina Chow and the 80's style of ultra feminine, strong, who-cares-what's-going-on-in-the-economy power post-Disco girl. For Fall 2009/10 Gucci, pants are only available in two silhouettes: Super skinny or slouched-to-super skinny. Club 80's at Gucci Fall 2009/10
Strong 80's shoulder-pads and silk jersey one shoulder club dresses highlighted the collection. The message for Giannini was clear: The World economy is going to Hell and a Hen basket, but the Gucci girl is going clubbin'.
Dolce and Gabbana:The Leg-o-Mutton Sleeve at Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009/10
For Fall 2009/10, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, based their collection on Elsa Schiaparelli with overt 30's and 40's references. Yet to me, it looked a lot more like an episode from Dynasty and an homage to Nolan Miller at times. Those oversized leg-o-mutton sleeves were out of control--and in a kind of campy, good way. Marilyn Monroe Pouffed at Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009/10
They were the kind of sleeves in my old fashion school pattern book which my instructors would still somehow make us create. I remember back then, thinking to myself "Boy, these are some tacky sleeves and why do I have to make them?" Well, what was tacky then, is on-the-mark now. Time to dust off that pattern book and give myself a refresher course in oversized leg-o-mutton sleeves I guess! Click below for the Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2009/10 Runway Show (in 2 parts):
Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci: I Am Not In A Good Mood: The Nina Ricci Girl is ready to Fashion Kill!
Marrying the two Fall 2009/10 trends of the 80's and Super Shoulders is the genius of Olivier Theyskens in his final collection for Nina Ricci. His swan song was hailed by editors, fashion press and buyers alike as one of his best. His woman was the Robert Palmer Girl--but for 2009/2010! The Original Robert Palmer Girl
His collection seemed to be an ode to that Theyskens girl he created in his head who in one corner is ultra fashionable and chic, yet at the same time, can stomp you and whip you into shape if you speak to her the wrong way! I want to hang out with this woman...OK, I actually wanna BE THIS WOMAN!!! Besides strong Thierry Mugler-like jackets, super skinny skin-tight pants, 80's slicked back chignons, defined Shiseido-girl looking make-up, he also showed some of the most dangerous boots and shoes since Naomi Campbell fell in her Vivienne Westwood platforms. Are you Kidding me? The Nina Ricci no-heel boots
Take a look at these boots with no heel--I can only imagine what the models' reactions were when they were handed these shoes and told to walk for their lives! I can see a Tyra "America's Next Top Model" episode comin' on...that or Ru Paul's "Drag Race"! Click Below for a short video on his last collection for the House of Nina Ricci:
