Angola's Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universe 2011 during the live pageant finale held Monday, September 12, 2011, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Though already one of the favorites, no one predicted Miss Angola Leila Lopes to end up as Miss Universe 2011 winner, but thanks to her great performance during the finals, especially during the final Q & A.

Miss Angola was able to beat 88 other lovely candidates, including mega favorites Ukraine (who finished 1st Runner Up), Philippines (3rd Runner Up) and China (4th Runner Up).

This is the first time that Angola has won the Miss Universe title.

Angola started participating in Miss Universe only in 1998 and only had 3 semi-finalists before winning the prestigious Miss Universe 2011 title.
