The winner of the Miss Eastern Cape preliminary, Abigail Clements, was replaced at the final by her runner-up, Beverley Strydom. Although she had turned 18 before the preliminary, she was only 17 when entries closed and was deemed under-age. She kept her title and prizes, but did not compete at the final.
