1948 "HOLLYWOOD" BEAUTY CONTEST

This pageant was organised by Universal International Pictures and African Consolidated Theatres. Preliminary pageants were held in 11 major cities in South Africa and Rhodesia. Judging took place at the Colosseum Theatre, Johannesburg on Friday 07 August. The winner was announced later in the year in the press. Only a winner, but no runners-up, were announced. The winner is often referred to as Miss South Africa 1949.
