Back in 1988 the super sensational Tanya Fourie was beaten into second place at the Ford Supermodel of the World contest by a rather bored looking Anuschka Muzik from Czechoslovakia.It subsequently surfaced that the result was very politically motivated since it would have been frowned upon to have a Boere-meisie from racist SA win a major competition.
After much wailing and gnashing of teeth on the part of the media, Eileen Ford awarded Tanya the same prize package as the winner stopping short of naming her joint-winner of the contest. Needless to say Tanya went on to become a Supermodel and Anuschka faded into obscurity.
