Apart from the hyping (and dissing) of contestants on forums (fora? fori?), there really isn't much happening on the pageant front as we await the arrival of the Miss Universe delegates in The Bahamas.
To help pass the time, I did a search of anecdotes and cartoons related to pageants and found the following:
Female pageants are fabulous, male pageants are fine, but drag pageants take the (butt) cake.
Even cartoonist acknowledge the difference between models and pageant girls.
There will be a new subsidiary award at Miss Universe this year: Miss Universal Legs. The winner will be decided by internet vote. To prevent Puerto Rican and Filipino fans from pulling off yet another coup as they do with the Miss Photogenic Award, all contestants will appear in the outfits depicted above.
