19-year-old Kaytlyn McKibbin was crowned Miss Winelands at a gala event at the Rusticana Hospitality Estate outside Paarl this evening. She was one of seven finalists from Paarl, Stellenbosch and the Helderberg that had qualified for the final. Photographs of the event can be viewed at the Miss Winelands Facebook profile.Kaytlyn was a finalist at the 2006 Miss SA Teen pageant and is also the reigning Miss October Teen. She will spend the next year participating in fundraising events for Bowy House, a refuge for children and families infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS.
As a registered non-profit (Section 21A) organisation, Bowy House is dependent solely on donations. Donors receive receipts, which may be used for tax exemption. An independent company, Price Waterhouse Coopers, audits annual financial statements.
